Pastoral Care & Wellbeing

At Eton End, we are proud of our nurturing and supportive ethos, where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to thrive as an individual. We believe children learn best when they feel happy, safe, and respected, and when they know they are treated fairly. Our small class sizes and strong pastoral care enable us to build trusting, empathetic relationships between pupils, staff, and parents.

Each child is supported first and foremost by their Form Teacher, who plays a central role in their daily life at school. The Form Teacher provides continuity of care, getting to know each pupil closely and acting as a first point of contact for both the child and their parents. Working alongside them is our dedicated Pastoral Care Team, led by Miss Logan, Deputy Head (Pastoral), who oversees the wellbeing of every pupil across the school. Together, this team ensures that each child receives the right balance of guidance, encouragement, and support throughout their Eton End journey.

Kindness and respect are central to life at Eton End. From an early age, pupils learn to care for one another and to celebrate differences. Our House system—Ash, Beech, Elm, and Oak—brings children of all ages together, fostering teamwork, collaboration, and a healthy sense of competition through a wide range of inter-house activities.

Pastoral Care and Citizenship are woven into every aspect of school life, helping pupils develop spiritually, morally, socially, and culturally. We aim to prepare every child for the opportunities and responsibilities of the wider world, including a strong understanding of Fundamental British Values.

We support the wellbeing of our pupils by nurturing their personal, social, and emotional development in a variety of ways:

  • Encouraging happiness and confidence so that every child can achieve their full potential.
  • Providing a stimulating learning environment and a broad, balanced curriculum that promotes growth in every area.
  • Recognising and supporting each child’s individual strengths and challenges.
  • Building self-esteem and resilience to foster independence and a lifelong love of learning.
