Digital

Here at Eton End, pupils from Reception to Year 6 are taught ‘Digital’ once a week. The children we teach have never known a world without technology. Computers play an increasingly important part in children’s everyday lives and it is therefore vital for them to understand the most common functions and programs that they are likely to encounter.

Our aim is to prepare them for the future so the children will learn how to use devices successfully, how to code and how to express their ideas using a range of applications.

Our children are taught a variety of skills which will allow them to adapt to the constantly evolving hardware and software that they will inevitably find themselves using as they progress. Understanding how to use the Internet as an important resource in a safe, responsible way is key to ensuring that the children are able to effectively leverage online resources. They will learn how to check the reliability of the information they find online and the need to understand and acknowledge their sources and respect copyright.
