Eton End School is fortunate in having over six acres of grounds incorporating lawn, meadow, woodland, gardens, games fields, tennis courts and the footprint of the school buildings. The Nursery is situated in The House at the heart of the school community. It consists of five rooms which contain all the elements of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, alongside a designated cooking area, a Nursery Library, Nursery toilets and a large Nursery Lawn and play area.

Learning is implemented through planned, purposeful play with both adult-led and child-initiated activities. Children are naturally imaginative and inquisitive and we encourage and support this by providing stimulating activities, which stir their creativity and sense of wonder. To keep children’s learning exciting, topics are carefully chosen, planned thoroughly, resourced well and delivered creatively.

Outdoor activity is as valued as classroom-based learning and our children enjoy the space they have to explore. We have a wonderful garden which includes a gardening plot, a ‘Wall of Sound’ zone, a cycle track, a sand pit, and a Pirate Galleon. We use discovery boxes with equipment such as digital cameras, metal detectors, magnifying glasses and binoculars. The garden is also used for our annual Nursery Sports Day.

Every Christmas the Nursery pupils perform a Nativity play to their parents and hold an Easter parade in the Spring Term. Visitors, guest speakers, theatre groups and family members make regular visits. The ‘Skylarks’ take part in an educational school trip in the Summer Term.

We accept children as rising threes and these, our youngest pupils, join our Fledglings group. We have three intakes a year; September, January and April. Parents choose morning sessions, often increasing the number of sessions (subject to availability) as the year progresses. Fledglings have the option to stay for the full school day.

The Nursery Skylarks group is for children who turn four during the academic year and there is one intake in September. Children attend all five weekday mornings and may elect to stay for the full school day too.

Children who stay for the full day in Nursery enjoy a three course school lunch in our Dining Hall. The Nursery staff are on hand to assist and the children are encouraged to choose their own lunch from the child level display/serving area.

All Fledglings and Skylarks wear the Nursery School Uniform which is designed for comfort and independence.

Past Parent

We have watched our daughter grow into the wonderful young lady she now is, and in no small part that is down to you and your team at school. The help, support, advice and encouragement that has been provided has been amazing and we will all miss Eton End enormously.
